Does Your Dog’s Breath Smell Like Cat Poop? What About Cat Pee?
Has your dog ever jumped up in your lap just to be near you or give you some lovin’ and you begin to wonder what that awful smell is emanating from the dog’s mouth? Hmm; how come the dog’s breath is so stinky? Does your dog’s breath smell like cat poop? What’s going on in the house? The smells of animals; what about cat pee?
Have you ever been standing in line somewhere, in a crowded room or elevator, when someone walks in and they reek of cat urine? If you have a cat, do you smell like cat urine? Do you have a cat or cats that refuse to use their litter box because you aren’t sure why?
In fact, the kitty litter could be brand new, never even used yet and you have a cat that is insisting on marking every little corner in the house. Even though he’s been fixed? Yep.
We have a beautiful old white male cat that was neutered as a young cat but he had already come into season; his young male life when he was looking for a piece of female pussy cat, and then he was neutered. This is what happened to our big old boy! So, he knows what it means to mark his territory and that is basically what he seems to be doing in the house. But given his age, this boy is also very temperamental and seems to do it when he is pissed off at me too. He does it to get my attention; which happens as soon as I catch him.
Our young male who was neutered as a very young kitten watches his behavior and thinks it odd. He follows the old man around and smells after him then wants to play so thank goodness our young boy doesn’t think it is something that he has to do too.
Nothing is more gross than a house that smells of stale cat urine EXCEPT when your dog gives you a big wet sloppy, slobbery, kiss up the chin, over the lips, and up over your nose, leaving a bunch of something in your nostrils that makes it kind of hard to breathe. Not because your nose is too full but because of what your dog just deposited.
It isn’t puppy breath slobber you just got shovelled up into your nose and all over your face because the pooch just had her face in the cat box and ate all of the “kitty roca” she could reach. I normally catch her trying to sneak into the kitty box though; it’s got a lid over the top of it and a flap to cover the little doorway in or out.
Our dog had a pretty big head to get into that little entrance with any room to maneuver about but she has been known to clean the poop out of it before she gets caught. And if I am not at home, there are telltale signs around the entire area that make her raid so obvious. The biggest of these signs is the crunchy kitty litter all over the floor around the box.
Upon removing the lid of the box will also confirm that she has “hoovered” every little chunk of cat poop. She even eats the cat litter that is stuck all over the poop. This is just gross but I understand that all dogs love kitty roca and the reason for this is that cats do not digest their food very thoroughly; there is a lot of undigested food in that roca.
Cats will not use a box if it is too dirty but it usually has to be pretty dirty before they will go anywhere else. Cats are extremely clean; they do not tolerate filth well. If you do not keep your kitty litter in a clean state, you may find yourself with a cat that uses the corners, your shoes, your bathtub or shower to urinate in. Preferably they will use the tub or shower, or even the bathroom sink. On the other hand, just because they are using somewhere in your house besides their box doesn’t mean that their box is not clean enough. I clean the cat box every night. It gets scooped out, every lump goes. But I have one cat who “sometimes” refuses to use it.
There is a woman who goes to the same health club as I do and every time she comes in at the same time as I do? The smell coming from her fills the room and chokes me; I have to move away or I will vomit. Others watch her as she moves through the weights or machines. They are obviously smelling the same thing I am. I am wondering to myself if she doesn’t know, just isn’t aware, or has given up on trying to get the smell out of her clothes? There is almost nothing as bad as the smell of stale cat piss; almost.
I walked into my bathroom tonight and found that one of the cats (most likely Picallo) had peed in my shower; which is better than on my shoes or the dog’s bed! Just last week, Picallo had peed all over Molly’s bed; Molly is my dog. Is your poor dog getting pissed out of house and home by the cat?
The smell of cat urine is unbearable and very unnecessary! As far as I am concerned; there is no excuse for a person to walk out of their house smelling like a litter box.
My cat is getting old and seems confused at times. I can tell because when I ask him if he wants to go outside, he used to run to the front door; now he goes to the front door and goes outside but then he runs around to the back, climbs a very tall fence into our back yard, only to come in our back door, all in a matter of minutes!
There are times when Picallo sees me from a distance and doesn’t recognize me so he runs the other way until I call him and he recognizes my voice. This tells me that he probably isn’t seeing very well either.
I didn’t want to take up this whole post by talking about my cats; but if you know what cat urine smells like after it gets old? Especially in the house, on clothes or blankets? It ruins whatever the cat pissed on. It is almost as bad as a skunk! We have thrown out pillows, rugs, blankets, towels, or anything that the cat chose to leave his mark on.
I did find out my cat’s reason for doing this. This is where I found out that it was not his potty box at all. It is because he was fixed (neutered) too late in life.; after he had already begun chasing the girls and spraying all over the yard. Even though he has a cat litter box in the house, he still finds it necessary to mark his territory inside too! but this was because we got another male cat (kitten); but he did grow up as a neutered male.
I didn’t know what to do about the stench of cat piss though. Throwing everything out was becoming expensive. I sent Dr. Andrew Jones an email to ask him about what I could do? Did he know how to neutralize this awful cat pee smell? I just received an email back and bless his heart! He; that is, Dr. Jones had an answer for this too. Get Veterinary Secrets Revealed as a FREE downloadable EBOOK here! There is so much information in here, you get the unanswered answers to many questions you have been storing up to get answers for. It’s a great book to have at your fingertips! It’s a great price too when coming from someone like Dr. Jones; a professional veterinarian who cares so much about you and your pets.
AND Here is a FREE gift from me to you! It works wonders on the removal of that stale cat pee odor!
Odor Neutralizer Recipe
Recipe for odor neutralizer (may lighten fabric so test a spot first)
1 cup hydrogen peroxide
1 tsp baking soda
1 quick squirt liquid dish soap
Mix using a wooden (not metal) spoon. Saturate the carpet or fabric and let it air dry.
I tried it on the inside of my son’s sneaker! Picallo had hunkered down right in front of me! He let loose in my kids tennis shoe. It smelled so bad by the next day, even after I had already rinsed it out.
I really had doubts that this recipe was going to work. I simply poured the whole cup into his shoe and let it soak overnight. I really thought that Dr. Jones was gonna be sunk with this one. But the next day I rinsed the shoe and let it dry upside down over a heat register in the house. I expected to be smelling cat urine throughout the house because of where it sat. But there was no smell and upon checking it the next day; the shoe was good to go and wearable. It Works!
So, if you have cat urine issues in your home, or on your clothes? Then you have it in your car, which cannot be helped. This is just how it works.
Dr. Jones also informed me that cats are known for their urinary tract infections. There is now a great remedy that we can give to our cats; especially those that are prone to urinary tract infections! Dr. Jones has formulated and patented a potent formula especially for dogs and cats that is high in one particular ingredient.
This one particular, proprietary ingredient, is being given to dogs and cats in the formula that Dr. Jones has developed, prepared, and patented, then he bottled it for sale. This one particular ingredient has been proven to exude properties.
But this one particular ingredient has so many excellent benefits backing its history of homeopathic medicine. Dr. Jones has added the Glucosamine to his dog and cat formulas, because of its history of medicinal healing. Not only has it proven effective in the treatment of painful arthritic joints in humans and animals, it has also been proved to help eliminate the urinary tract tendency of infection!

Good luck and God Bless
“Glucosamine is being increasingly used for Urinary Tract inflammation, and infections. Especially helpful in cats with Idiopathic cystitis. My one older cat Cleo hasn’t been on my supplement for a while ( I ran out and failed to re-order…) Both of the cats will be back on it SOON! Glucosamine in proper levels as is in my Ultimate Feline, and Ultimate Canine Health Formulas. IF you have a dog or cat with urine related ‘problems’, you should really consider trying this.”
My own testimonial for this product? I have not been using this supplement much longer than a month but my dog’s allergies are already less severe. She has completely stopped scooting around on her rump and her tummy. The hot red ears are now cool and pink on the inside. These are huge steps forward for us. I cannot wait until she can completely stop taking the steroids. We are going to see a new vet this week too!
Actually, if you are interested in the supplement therapy for dogs or cats they have to be ordered at different links which I have listed below for you. I ordered them for both cats and my dog, but as you know, my dog passed away last week. I have a cat though that is about 15 years old and he is as active as our baby cat; about a year old now. It’s great to see him up and playing with the younger cat for a change. His energy level shot up the charts with the supplement which contains the Glucosamine that Dr. Jones spoke about above.
The only thing I cannot fix for you here today is that age-old question; does you dog’s breath smell like cat poop? Or how to cure your dog from loving that good old kitty roca. But we answered “what about cat pee?” several times in this post. Thanks for dropping by.
Have a great weekend. I am currently working on a site that I should have up by next week hopefully. If you know anything about the dog whisperer on television then you know how he gets into a dog’s mind and teaches them who is the alpha dog of the pack and he teaches the dog’s owners or parents how to be better moms and dads.
A dog’s behavior is not anyone’s fault really but in order to correct bad or troublesome behavior, you have to know how to connect or communicate with your dog. I have found our Online Dog Whispererd. I am going to introduce this guy to everyone because he is willing to give away all kinds of great information to help anyone and everyone that needs or wants help with their best buddies. The blog I am setting up will be about dogs only, the lives they lead, what they need from you as their owner, their parent. And the best way to get that optimum, wonderful, obedient behavior that we all just expect from our pooch.
You will never get that great kind of behavior from your dog, no matter how hard you work at it, until you and your dog understand that you are in charge and all they have to do to make everything okay is to have good behavior. This dog whisperer, he knows his dogs, and he is going to show you how to take control, be the alpha in charge, so your dog can relax and have a good life.
Watch for my announcement to tell you the name of the new blog; how to get involved especially for all the great free stuff coming your way!
I am also going to set up a Facebook page with the same name as the name of the blog so it will be easy to remember. Anyone and everyone will be able to communicate through the page as long as it is about your dog. Our dog whisperer will be there as well, posting great new information for us all of the time.
Look for the announcement; will keep you posted as things begin to roll out.
Take care and we will talk again soon. Wish me luck!
